Some frats have had to relocate, others remain houseless
Fraternities tend to conjure images of brothers throwing a football on a grassy lawn outside of a stately house, but some fraternities have no house to call their own — and some houses sit empty, home to no one.
Fraternities without houses hop between residences, living in unofficial houses or actively seeking a home of their own. Houses without fraternities stand vacant as renovations are completed or fraternities are reestablished.
Each situation has a unique history — evictions, renovations, borough zoning, disbandments and reestablishments all have played a part in the experiences of these fraternities.
