Stephen Smith will graduate from Penn State this month. Join us in wishing him well in the next chapter.
Hometown: Honesdale, PA
Major: Animal Science, Science Option
Future plans: I will be moving to North Carolina at the end of December, where I will be the Assistant Herdsman at Stepstone Holsteins. I will be playing an active role in managing a 200 cow registered Holstein farm.
What advice would you give to future members about making the most of their time at AZ?
My advice is twofold: take the time to know everyone you live with, and take every opportunity you can get to network with Alpha Zeta Alumni. I cannot begin to describe the strength of the friendships you will develop in Alpha Zeta. I have made some lifelong friends while I was at the house. These are people that will help you get through the stress of college, but also be there after you graduate if you’re in need. Also, meet all the alumni you can. Alpha Zeta has alumni in practically every agricultural field. It always amazes me when I go to a conference or meeting and I find an alumni of the house. These are great people to get to know. You never know when you might be in need of a job. A call to an alumni could really help get the ball rolling. Overall, have fun in college. You only do it once. Alpha Zeta will forever be a part of your life, and don’t take her for granted.
