Alpha Zetans experience Orlando

By Michelle Hartzell

Three Alpha Zeta members traveled to Orlando for the American Dairy Science Association Student Affiliate Division meetings in July. Cara Trotter, Greyson Smith, and Michelle Hartzell represented the Penn State Dairy Science Club that received outstanding chapter recognition for the third year in a row. Cara presented the activities report on the club’s trip to Italy, and Greyson prepared the annual report. Michelle presented her undergraduate research and earned third place in the original research poster competition. Her study was titled, “Expression of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in the endometrium of dairy heifers during early pregnancy and the estrous cycle.” Alpha Zeta graduate Sara Kitchen edited the club’s yearbook, The Dairyman, which took first place in its category.

The students enjoyed visiting SeaWorld along with the other career events and competitions during the meeting.
