Thank you to Orry Pratt, an animal sciences major from Crawford County, Pa., for participating in this Q&A…
What do you like most about Alpha Zeta? I really enjoy Alpha Zeta for the camaraderie that is shared between the brothers and the sisters. Some of my best friendships have been formed here at the Morrill Chapter, and I know I will keep in touch with these friends after graduation. I appreciate the fact that I am able to sit down with my friends after a long day, and feel a sense of calm when hanging out with those friends.
What is your best memory so far? One of my fondest memories that I will take away from the house is when a fellow sister, Kristin Klohonatz and I danced in THON. Dancing in THON was honestly the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but I will never forget all the love and support that I received from the AZ family during the 46 hours I was on my feet. Every time I saw someone from Alpha Zeta show up at THON, my eyes always lit up, and it gave me assurance that I could finish the challenge.
What is your vision for the house while you are in a leadership role? In my current leadership role as House Manager, I oversee the physical operation of the house. It can be quite an overwhelming position, but I hope that I will be able to pass on a legacy that is marked by restorations to a few rooms, and an earned respect from alumni in regards to how clean the house always appears when they visit.
How would you like to better connect with alumni? I always encourage alumni to stop back to the house and visit. If they haven’t been back for a while, I think they will really enjoy seeing the current state of the house. One of my favorite things about meeting alumni is hearing their stories during the time spent at Alpha Zeta and how it influenced their development of character in the professional world.
What are your future goals and plans? I have aspirations to attend graduate school at either Texas A&M or Cornell to study International Agriculture Development. I also would like to volunteer my time to the Peace Corps. Once I enter the professional field, I would like to travel around the world and offer technical advice to rural farmers in developing countries on how to properly raise livestock, to provide them with an adequate protein source.
