Calling all Morrill Chapter alumni—the active chapter needs your help!

The fundraising season for THON 2016 is currently underway, but it has been a difficult fall for the THON community. Concern with the safety and sustainability of canning, one of the best-known methods of fundraising for the Dance Marathon, led to the cancellation of two designated canning weekends this year.

As many of you know, canning is a core component of Alpha Zeta’s fundraising model, one that we were not able to rely on this year. The active THON chairs are hard at work gathering donations and planning alternative fundraising events, but we are still significantly below our usual fundraising goal for this point in the year.

THON has become the active chapter’s primary philanthropy and is a great way for members to contribute to something greater than themselves, playing a role in an event beloved by the Penn State community. We have been paired for the past two years with the Kemberling family of Lebanon, PA, through the Adopt-A-Family Program, which allows organizations to form close bonds with a family affected by pediatric cancer. Our relationship with the Kemberlings has put a personal spin on our THON involvement, and we hope to continue this pairing long into the future.

Please consider donating to Alpha Zeta’s 2016 THON fundraising efforts. Your donation helps ensure that families like the Kemberlings have access to the best possible medical treatment for their child, as well as an incredible amount of financial and emotional support. Thanks to the efforts of Penn State students, kids like Chase Kemberling can grow up cancer-free!

To donate online, visit donate.thon.org and be sure to select Alpha Zeta as your designated organization. Checks can be made out to Penn State Dance Marathon and mailed to:

The actives would like to extend a huge thank you to all Morrill alumni who have donated to our THON efforts in past years. We would be unable to do what we do without the help of our generous alumni.
