Alpha Zetans gather for annual reunion.
The 2014 Alpha Zeta Reunion was held at Yoder’s Restaurant in New Holland, Pa., on Oct. 18. Eighteen people, including 12 Alpha Zeta alumni, attended this year’s event, which marked the 63rd year for the reunion.
Don Seipt was a member of the Class of 1950 that began the reunion shortly after their schooling.
“When we graduated, we vowed we were going to stay connected,” Seipt said.
AZ Corporation Board President Art Keen gave an update about the active chapter and current projects for the house. Keen was commended for his continued leadership of the board.
Here are a few fun quotes and stories from the 2014 reunion:
- “This is my wife, Gerry. We’ve been married 64 years. That really isn’t any big deal because they tell me after 20 years, marriage is a piece of cake.” — Don Seipt
- Jane Pepple, wife of Bob Pepple, was awarded the Obie Snider Award during the 2014 All-American Dairy Show. The award was established in memory of Bedford County dairyman Obie Snider and recognizes an individual who places significant value in service to the dairy industry. Don Seipt was the first recipient of this award.
- “I was elected chancellor during my time at Alpha Zeta. I remember saying, ‘We can either eat or we can have parties. We can’t do both.'” — Bob Pepple
- Jim Pierson will celebrate his 90th birthday on Nov. 2. (Read more about Jim Pierson here: https://alphazetapsu.2stayconnected.com/index.php/2012-12-05-17-55-08/493-turning-his-priceless-remember-when-moments-into-a-path-for-others)
- “That’s my wife, Elizabeth. We’re getting older, but we’ve solved the problem of driving. I sit behind the wheel, and she does the driving.” — Bob Hodge
Next year’s reunion date is tentatively set for Nov. 14, 2015. It will be held at the same location at Yoder’s Restaurant in New Holland.
