Penn State students and alumni anticipating the first ever concert in Beaver Stadium will have to keep on waiting as the festivities originally set for Blue-White weekend have been postponed indefinitely.
Grammy Award winner Fergie was scheduled to perform in Beaver Stadium on April 18, the night before the Blue-White game, as part of a 16 concert series given the name Gridiron Bash. The events, which were tied to spring football games across the nation, were cancelled because of an NCAA ruling regarding the participation of student-athletes.
The NCAA said in a statement that student athletes cannot participate in “promotional activities or appearance for a commercial venture.”
The plans for the Gridiron Bash included a pep rally with the football team followed by the Fergie concert. The concert would have been the first concert ever held in Beaver Stadium.
Those who purchased tickets to the event should visit www.gopsusports.com for refund information.
The Blue-White game is set for Saturday April 19 at 2 p.m.
