Ireland + PSU Football = The Perfect Honeymoon

Thousands of Penn State alumni arrived in Ireland late in August to cheer on our Nittany Lions in their season opener against Central Florida. But newlyweds Jake Hushon ’05 and wife, Wendy, decided that there was no better location or time to celebrate their new union.

My wife and I went to Dublin and then on to London for our honeymoon. We wanted to wait a year and go to Ireland and England, but when the game was announced, I had to be there. The trip was amazing! We booked the Dublin-only tour through Anthony Travel and spent the first two days touring Dublin including Jameson Whiskey, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College to see the Book of Kells among the highlights. The evening before the game, we were treated to a private party at Guinness Storehouse complete with the PSU band, cheerleaders, private tours of Guinness’ storehouse and Irish bands on each of the six levels for entertainment that evening. It was by far the most memorable event of the trip. For three days, while we walked around Dublin, we kept running into Penn State people everywhere. We literally took over the city! The game – as everyone saw on TV – was amazing and very nerve racking; we spent a few memorable nights in Dublin in the Temple Bar district. It was the best Penn State experience I have ever had in my life!

Jake is currently the marketing manager for New Generation Genetics Inc. in Fort Atkinson, Wis. You can send your congratulations to him and Wendy at [email protected].
