‘Jurassic World’ inspires AZ’s 2015 Homecoming float
by Michelle Hartzell
The actives celebrated Penn State Homecoming 2015, “A Legacy to Shape the Future,” with a full week of float pomping. The theme of the float was the summer blockbuster, Jurassic World. Homecoming chairs Cassie Clark and Emily Shaw were responsible for the logistics and planning for this year’s float. Brother Luke Salter built the frame and the actives pomped a backdrop from the movie.
Brothers Will Ziemendorf, Luke Salter, Mike Rush, Tyler Schaffer and Sister Michelle Hartzell acted out scenes from the movie during the parade accompanied by the Jurassic World soundtrack. Brother Schaffer played the role of the live velociraptor from the movie. Brother Stephen Smith drove the float, and Brother Nate Repetz walked alongside as a pomped Mad Hatter.
The float was a big hit in the parade and was even mentioned in Onward State’s Homecoming recap:
Alpha Zeta took a Jurassic approach, mimicking this summer’s box office hit “Jurassic World” – even including a “real-life” velociraptor.
