Ten Alpha Zeta Seniors Set to Enter Real World

The Alpha Zeta active chapter is celebrating the graduation of 10 outstanding seniors this semester.

Justin Selig of Germansville, Pennsylvania, is graduating with a degree in Wildlife Science. His future plans include working as a biologist within the wildlife field. Since becoming an Alpha Zeta member, he says he has most enjoyed creating lifelong bonds with his brothers and sisters. Justin served as Chaplain for the chapter. He says joining Alpha Zeta was the best decision he ever made.

Northampton, Pennsylvania, native Courtney Smith will begin her career as a Tyson Foods management trainee. Courtney obtained a degree in Animal Sciences with a minor in Agribusiness Management. Courtney has been very active in Alpha Zeta, serving as Scribe, Rush Chair, Senior Note Fund Chair and New Member Educator.

When asked, “How has your experience as an Alpha Zeta benefitted you?” Courtney responded:

“I thought about this question for a very long time before finally settling on one word ‘family.’ The house has become a home for me and the people in it have become family. I never thought a group of people beside my blood family could mean so much to me, but I was wrong.”

Something Courtney will always remember was representing Alpha Zeta in Penn State’s THON.
Courtney’s co-dancer in the 46-hour dance marathon was Amy Yeiser of Arnold, Maryland. The pair shared a special bond as they joined the house together in 2010. Amy is also graduating with a degree in Animal Sciences and a minor in Agribusiness Management. She hopes to obtain a career in the dairy industry, preferring to pursue industry, legislator and customer relations. Amy served Alpha Zeta as Chronicler, Rush Chair and THON Chair. She has also been very active in the Penn State Dairy Science Club and is currently President of the American Dairy Science Association-Student Affiliate Division.
