Actives Host Family Day Event for 100+

Alpha Zeta’s Family Day was held on Sunday, April 14. We were lucky enough to have around 110 people in attendance, which included members and their families. All the brothers and sisters really chipped in to make Family Day a great success. Tyler Patton utilized extra sod from Valentine Turfgrass Research Center, and with the new members’ help, he resod half the lawn. He even managed to use a different type of sod to put our letters into the lawn.
Ag Man of the Year Announced

Alpha Zeta’s Ryan Cochran was presented with Ag Student Council’s “Ag Man of the Year” Award at the college’s annual Ag Ball, held April 5, 2013. Cochran has served Alpha Zeta as the Professional Development Chair and Rush Chair.

The Last Hurrah of College
Exams are over, the boxes are packed, and the cap and gown is pressed and ready for the big event. Graduation day is such a bittersweet moment in our lives, as we say goodbye to the youth and vitality of college life, and usher in a new era in our lives: full-blown adulthood. Alumni Bring in More Than $4,000 in Donations in February

From September 2012 to February 2013, a total of 113 donors have contributed more than $13,000 to the annual fund. Forty of these donors contributed more than $4,000 during the month of February alone. Affinity Connection’s series of donor outreach letters and newsletters are the main drivers of these incoming funds.

Alum Strives for Interactive Learning in the Ag Classroom

If you had attended Penn State with Mike Woods (’09 Agricultural and Extension Education) like I did, you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he is leading of one of the most exciting agricultural programs in the state. Even as an undergrad, Mike’s passion for educating youth and supporting FFA was evident. Now, Mike is an instructor and FFA adviser at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Report from 2013 Annual Meeting

The annual meeting was held Saturday, March 23rd. The day included a lunch with the active chapter. After viewing photos and hearing information from both the Corporation Board and active chapter, alumnus Frank Madden (’62) was impressed with the way the house is being maintained, particularly in the dining and kitchen areas and the chapter room.

Actives Help Raise More Than $12M during 2013 THON
Over the past few years, the Morrill Chapter’s involvement in THON has been on an upward swing, and THON Weekend 2013 was no exception. The current THON Chair Rebecca Shaw and fellow dancer Joel Smith stood on their feet for 46 hours straight for the fight against pediatric cancer.
